Charlotte Ostafew and piano
Teacher/composer

I have been a piano teacher and composer for more than 20 years, since leaving music college. I teach from my home in Shoscombe, south of Bath, and online. I love starting children on their musical journey, and specialise in teaching adults, either those getting back to music, or complete beginners.

It's so important to be motivated by the music you play so I like to do a mix of classical, contemporary, jazz and pop, as well as scales, chords and basic theory. I do grades when they are wanted, both ABRSM and Trinity. I am always open to playing music pupils suggest, both music they bring and music I arrange for them.

Online piano lessons are done over Skype and work well for pupils above age 10. You just need a laptop, tablet or phone.

Most lessons last 30 minutes and cost £19. Young  beginners may want to start at 20 minutes (£12), 45 minutes  is £28, and 1 hour is £38.  You can pay monthly or weekly via cash or bank transfer.

I have written three books for adults returning to the piano, designed to move more quickly than complete beginner books. They are inspired by film and contemporary music, and my years writing for bands. Read more about these, and listen to extracts, on the shop page.
